MIXED LEAGUE GOLF  July 13, 2023

It was a gorgeous day, and fourteen Mixed League Golfers were eager to play on July 13, 2023, in spite of the weather!

Golfers Mardi and Roger Lockwara, Linda Gawura, Stan Johnson, Paul and Elaine Laderer, Gary and Lysa Nicholson, Glenn Gilman, Dan Crowley, Cathy Nisen, Paul and Millie Hersch and Margaret Batesole arrived before 9:15 am ready to play .

   We were fortunate to ‘beat the heat,’ and fortunately lunch was cool and comfortable,  (The Fish Tacos at $3.00 each are the best deal in the area.) We were joined for lunch with Sue and Paul Derby and Joe Delloforno and Gordon Batesole.  I have unofficially decided that we are actually the Mixed League Golf and Lunch Bunch.  Getting to see each other every month has become a highlight for all of us. 

For the record, we played in the last group this time, and I did not have a chance to get the great results from each person’s game. Therefore, let’s just say – we were all very glad that we had a great day for golf.  For those of you who had pars and eagles; not to worry, you’ll get your name and honors in print next month

MIXED LEAGUE GOLF 5-8-23
SIR Mixed League Golf was cancelled on Thursday, June 8 because of a conflict with the DAI tournament. We hoped our players would participate in that event. 
We are anticipating more golfers in the lovely month of July on the 13 th. Starting time will be 9:00 am since we areexpecting warmer weather very soon. We also look forward to
having ‘friends’ join us for lunch, too. GREAT FISH TACOS!

This month I can legally blame all errors on the cast on my right thumb and arm. Hopefully, it will gone before July 13,2023. For full disclosure we will discuss it all at lunch after

Golfers Mardi and Roger Lockwara, Larry Yarberry, Linda Gawura, Stan Johnson and Margaret Batesole arrived before 10: am ready to play . Stan had two pars, and Margaret had one. Stan’s score was very low, while the other golfers enjoyed a good game and great weather.  Fortunately, we all enjoyed a delicious Greenery lunch, and Holley joined us.  We are sending “get well ‘ wishes to those who missed for illness, and a very special HAPPY 60th ANNIVERSAY TO  Larry and Holley Yarberry.   
  We are anticipating more golfers in the lovely month of May on the 11th.  Starting time will be 9:00 am since we are expecting warmer weather very soon. We also look forward to having ‘friends’ join us for lunch, too.

Activity Description

SIR Mixed League Golf is open to all SIR members, spouses/partners and their guests.  We encourage all interested members to contact our chairperson for any additional information you might need.  It is not necessary to have a handicap to play with our group.  We play for FUN.

Our games are of the 9 hole variety and played on the 2nd Thursday of each month usually at Diablo Hills Golf Course at 9:00 am or 10:00 am depending on time of year.  We also try to have at least one event during the year where we travel to an area away from our home base staying overnight and playing one round of golf on arrival and one more round the next day.  This fun filled venue usually includes an arrival party, informal dinner and lunch the next day before heading home. Towards the end of year we typically have a “celebration” dinner at a local venue.

The usual golf format is individual play; however, we vary the format occasionally with games such as Scrambles and Best Ball.

Our objective is to have fun, meet with old and new friends and enjoy a meal together usually at the Greenery Restaurant at the Diablo Hills Golf Course. You may contact any participating member if you have questions or concerns or need additional information.  We look forward to welcoming new members, and no matter what the score– we surely do have fun!!  A nicer group of golfers could not be found!!
