This activity is a joint activity; SIR Branch 8 members along with members of the Walnut Creek Seniors Club (WCSC).

Interested parties can bring your guitars, banjos, or other acoustic instruments to play and sing your favorite old time folk songs. Participants should be able to sing in tune and have the skill to play and follow the common chord progressions. Also, any participant is welcome to come to just sing.

Plans are for two meetings per month (1st and 3rd Fridays) starting at 1:30 pm to about 3:30pm. We will be meeting in the multipurpose room at the Civic Park Community Center located at 1375 Civic Drive in Walnut Creek.

Non member participants of the WCSC will be required to join the WCSC and pay an annual membership fee of $20 for the use/set up of the room.

June 2025

Next Meeting Friday, June 6 from 1:30 pm to 3 pm Civic Park Community Center, 1375 Civic Dr., Walnut Creek, CA 94596 Location on June 6 is the Conference Room  Location after June 6 is the Assembly Hall Meets twice monthly on the First and Third Friday of the month. Must be a member of the Walnut Creek Seniors Club to participate; non-members have their first meeting free. You can join the Seniors Club at the front desk of the Civic Park Community Center. The Friday Folk Jam has had three successful sessions so far, meeting the First and Third Fridays of each month. We have had about 15 participants, some with guitars and banjo. We currently have a song list of about 25 tunes, from the works of Bob Dylan, Peter Paul and Mary, John Prine, Gordon Lightfoot, and others. The list of songs and lyrics with chords are provided to participants.
