2015 History Report Arts Crafts and Hobbies

Arts, Crafts and Hobbies 2015 History Report

Chairman: Ron Smith
Assistant Chairman: Al Steunenberg

Arts, Crafts and Hobbies  involves members who paint, do sculptures, write books or poetry, take photographs, carve or turn wood,  collect articles of various types, do glass blowing or stained glass, or any other art, craft or hobby that they may be willing to share with the membership at a special table prior to the monthly luncheon. One member and his work is selected for display each month.

At the beginning of 2015, Arts, Crafts and Hobbies (formerly known as SACHE) hadn’t been active for a number of months. There had been little interest on the part of members to share their Art, Craft or Hobby and we had run out of participants.

Al Steunenberg agreed to take over as Activity Chairman and work on reviving it. With the help of Activity Coordinator Phil Trapp, a list of possible participants was developed and the activity was reignited. After working the first part of the year getting things organized, Al Steunenberg felt like he could work better as an Asst. Chairman. Ron Smith agreed to take over as Chairman and work with Al going forward.

Arts, Crafts and Hobbies kicked off at the October 2015 meeting with a display by Dan Weller of wood turning including many bowls and other pieces he had made.

This was followed in November with a display of clay sculptures pieces by Mike Paster.

More Arts, Crafts and Hobbies are being scheduled for 2016.
