The Film Buffs Group provides SIR members the opportunity to watch and discuss films at members’ home using DVDs or streaming services. Film choice rotates among members.
The Group meets on the 2nd Friday of each month at 1:30 PM.

We held our first meeting of Film Buffs in early January at the home of Manuel Dominguez to watch Orson Welles’s 1958 noir classic “Touch of Evil” starring Welles, Charlton Heston, and Marlene Dietrich. After the film we had a good discussion of the movie while eating snacks brought by each member. Overall the group thought the film was worth watching, although there was a good amount of overacting (probably intentional on the director’s part) and dated themes and dialogue that sometimes caused us to laugh. We all felt Welles’s acting was excellent, that there was some interesting cinematography and music, and that the film was good for discussion because there was a lot left unexplained and open to interpretation.
