PINOCHLE

This Pinochle group is a multi-branch activity open to all level of play.    Beginners are welcome as are partners/guests of members.  We provide instruction as requested, and most beginners learn within the first session.  We have plenty of room for new people

We are meeting in person twice a month on the second and fourth Wednesdays at Rocco’s Restaurant, 2909 Ygnacio Valley Rd., Walnut Creek (in the Encina Grande shopping center near Whole Foods).  We have lunch starting at noon with card play from 12:30 to 3:00.  We play 3, 4, 5, or 6 handed games so we can accommodate any number of players.  Ladies and new players are welcome.  We share this activity between Branch 146 and Branch 8.

2026

On April 7, we had 10 players, so played two 5-man tables.    At one table, Butch Dellio won the first game and Stan Johnson won the second game over Dennis Mierzwa, Terry Mason, and Jerry Ward.  At the other table, Jeff Morrow (146) won a game and Roy Hodgkinson (146) won another over Jim Barry (146), Will Stratton (146), and Alex Bordens (146).

On March 25, we had a record 15 players and played three tables.  At one table of five, Cleo Bolen of branch 145 won both games over Jerry Ward, Steve Monksfield, Stan Johnson, and Will Stratton (146).  At another table of five, Alex Bordens (146) won both games over Terry Mason, Dennis Mierzwa, Butch Dellio, and Tom Amann (146).  At the final table of five, Jim Barry (146) won one game while Pete McNeill (146) won the other over Jeff Morrow (146), Bob Weiss, and Roy Hodgkinson (146).

On March 11, we had 14 players and played one 6-handed game and two 4-handed games.  At one of the 4-haned tables, Butch Dellio and Stan Johnson won both game over Jerrry Ward and Chris Wehling.   The winners had two double runs of 150 points along the way.  At the other 4-handed table, Terry Mason and Steve Monksfield won two of their games over Will Stratton and Cleo Bolen, both of Branch 146.  At the 6-handed table, Bob Weiss, Jim Barry (146), and Roy Hodgkinson (146) won the first game while Jeff Morrow (146), Pete McNeill (146), and Alex Bordens (146) won the last two games.

On February 25, we had a record of 15 players, so played three 5-man tables.    At one table, Stan Johnson won the only game over Chris Wehling, Will Stratton (146), Steve Monksfield, and Jerry Ward.  At another table, Dennis Mierzwa won one game while Alex Bordens won the other over Cleo Bolen (146), Terry Mason, and Butch Dellio.  At the final table, Jeff Morrow (146) won the first game and Jim Barry (146) won the second over Bob Weiss, Pet McNeill (146), and Roy Hodgkinson (146).

On February 11, we had 13 players and played three tables.  At one table of four, Dennis Mierzwa and Terry Mason won both games over Stan Johnson and Jerry Ward.  At the other table of four, Steve Monksfield and Cleo Bolen (Branch 146) won their only game over Chris Wehling and Alex Bolen (146).  At the final table of five, Butch Dellio won one game while Pete McNeill (146) won the other over Jim Barry (146), Bob Weiss, and Roy Hodgkinson (146).

On January 28, we had 12 players and played two tables of six.  At one table, Guy Heald, Terry Mason, and Stan Johnson won both games over Steve Monksfield, Chris Wehling, and Dennis Mierzwa.  At the other table, Bob Weiss, Jerry Ward, and Butch Dellio won both games over Alex Bordens, (Branch 146), Roy Hodgkinson (146), and Pete McNeill (146).

On January 14, we had two tables of six with 12 people total.  Butch Dellio, Stan Johnson, and Alex Bordens won all three games over Terry Mason, Jerry Ward, and Will Stratton.  The winners had a double run (double family) in each of the games.  The second table had a number of hands go set and thus, only got to play one game to 500 points.  Steve Monksfield, Bob Weiss, and Jeff Morrow beat three members from Branch 146.

2025

On December 24 (Christmas Eve), we did not meet formally.  We had six players play some fun games.

On December 10, we had two tables of six with 12 people.  Terry Mason, Stan Johnson, and Alex Bordens narrowly w0n the first game while Dennis Mierzwa, Butch Dellio, and Tom Amann (Branch 146) easily won the second with a triple Pinochle and a double run along the way.  At the second table of six, Jerry Ward, Cleo Bolen, and Pete McNeill (146) won their only game.

On November 26, we had 10 players at two tables.  At one table of five, Butch Dellio won the first game with Steve Monksfield winning the second.  At the second table of five, Alex Bordens of Branch 146 won both games.

On September 24, we had 11 participants.  In one table of six, Terry Mason, Jerry Ward, and Alex Bordens won both games over Stan Johnson, Steve Monksfield, and Cleo Bolen.  They started out with a double run and 200 points on the first hand of each game.  At the second table of five, Jim Barry of Branch 146 won both games.

On September 10, we had a new high of 13 players.  At one table of 4, new member, Alex Bordens and Stan Johnson won both games over new member, Steve Monksfield and Dennis Mierzwa.  There were several hands of triple Pinochle and double runs with scores for the hands of 218, 231, and 209.  At the other table of 4, new member Butch Dellio and Tom Amann (branch 146) won both games with hands of 208 and 210.  At the table of 5, Roy Hodgkinson (branch 146) won both games

On August 13, we had a record 13 participants.  In one table of four, Art Fabsits and Terry Mason won both games over Jerry Ward and Butch Dellio.  At the second table of four, we had some record play.  Tom Amann (146) and Pet McNeill (146) won the first two games 500-206 and 516-90 over Stan Johnson and Dennis Mierzwa.  They had great hands with several triple-Pinochles and  double-runs with hand scores of 122, 124, and 234.  Dennis and Stan won the last partial game.  The final table of five had Bob Weiss winning the first game and Roy Hodgkinson (146 winning the second game).

On July 23, we had 12 participants.  At one table of six, Dennis Mierzwa, Butch Dellia, and Tom Amann (146) won both games over Terry Mason, Jerry Ward, and Art Fabsits.  At other table of six, Stan Johnson, Jim Barry (146), and Roy Hodgkinson (146) also won both games over Bob Weiss, Pete McNeill (146), and Charlie Kahsen (146).

On July 9, we had 9 participants.  At the table of five, Jim Barry won.  At the table of four, Tom Amann and Jerry Ward easily won the first game while Dennis Mierzwa and Stan Johnson won the second and third games.  Note that in the second game, the winners scored 476  points in two hands to easily win that game.

On June 25, we had 10 participants.  At one table of five, Tom Amann won the first game with Dennis Mierzwa winning the second.  At the second table of five, Pete McNeill of Branch 146 won the first game, and Roy Hopkinson won the second.

On June 6th, we also had 11 participants.  At the table of six, the team of Jerry Ward, Art Fabsits, and Tom Amann won both games over Terry Mason, Dennis Mierzwa, and Stan Johnson.  At the table of five, Pete McNeill of Branch 146 won the first game, and Roy Hodgkinson (Branch 146) won the second  game.

On May 28th, we had 11 participants.  At one table of six, the team of Art Fabsits, Stan Johnson, and Tom Amann won the game over Terry Mason, Dennis Mierzwa, and Jerry Ward.  At the second table of five, Jim Barry of Branch 146 won the first game, and Bob Weiss won the second.

On May 14, we had 10 participants.  At one table of five, Jerry Ward won the first game, and Pete NcNeill (Branch 146) won the second.  At the other table of five, Roy Hodgkinson of Branch 146 won the first game, with Jim Barry (Branch 146) won the second  game.

On April 23, we had a turnout of 8 participants.  At one table of four, Stan Johnson and Charlie Kahsen (Branch 146) won both games. At the second table of four, Terry Mason and Art Fabsits won both games as well.

On April 9, we had 10 participants.  At one table of five, Dennis Mierzwa won the first game, and Stan Johnson won the second.  At the other table of five, Roy Hodgkinson of Branch 146 won the first game, with Bob Weiss and Charlie Kahsen tieing the second  game.

On March 26, we had a great turnout of 13 participants.  At one table of four, Art Fabsits and Terry Mason won the first game, but Dennis Mierzwa and Tom Amann came back to win the second. At the second table of four, Stan Johnson and Pet McNeill (Branch 146) won both games over Jerry Ward and Joel Friedman. At the table of five. Jeff Morrow of Branch 146 won both games.

On March 12, we also had 10 participants. At one table of five, Tom Amann won both games. At the other table of five, Jeff Morrow of Branch 146 won the first game, and Charlie Kahsen won the second game.

On February 26, we had 10 participants. At one table of five, Dennis Mierzwa won with Art Fabsits a close second. At a second table of five. Jeff Morrow of Branch 146 won the first game with Jim Barry winning he second.

On February 12, we had 10 participants. At one table of five, Dennis Mierzwa won a close first game.  Stan Johnson won a partial game. At the other table of five, Charlie Kahsen of Branch 146 won the first game, and Jim Barry won a partial game.

On January 22, we had a great turnout with 13 participants. At one table of four, Stan Johnson and visitor Frank Jorden won all three games for a total score of 1161. At a second table of four. Dennis Mierzwa and Art Fabsits won one game with a quadruple Pinochle for an instant win (500 points). They won a partial game and Jerry Ward and Tom Amann won the other game. At the table of five, Charlie Kahsen won one game and Pet McNeill of Branch 146 won the other.

On January 8, we had 10 participants for two five-handed tables.  Art Fabsits won the first game and Tom Amann won the second.  At the other table, Pete McNeill of Branch 146 won the first game and Jeff morrow (146) won the second.
