Computers and Technology Area 16 (formerly Area 2)

Chairman:  Neil Schmidt (np_schmidt@pacbell.net

Meetings of the Area 16 Computer and Technology Group are held the 3rd Thursday of each month (except June and December) from 9:15 (for a 9:30 start) to 11:30 a.m., at the Walnut Creek Elks Lodge, 1475 Creekside Drive.  Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned user, we try to offer something for everyone.  We ask for a donation of $5 to cover the cost of the hall rental, coffee and cookies, but some months are free, so come and see if our next meeting is one of those!  All SIR members and their guests (spouses included!) are welcome to attend. See you there.

At our September meeting SIR Phil Goff gave us detailed instructions for downloading, installing and running LastPass, today’s most popular password management program. Following the LastPass presentation, Phil went on to demonstrate how to send and receive text messages, something youngsters (and today’s business people) do with ease.  Members who brought their mobile phones were able to follow along with Phil’s demonstration.  You can check out Phil’s presentation notes at  https://sirinc2.org/a16cat/

Our upcoming October presentation topic will be on ways to improve your home security with an emphasis on home networking and home automation. The presentation is by Evan Corstorphine, the President/CEO of Portable CIO, Inc., who has made several very popular presentations to our group in the past.

We look forward to seeing you 9:15 AM, Thursday October 18, at the Walnut Creek Elks Lodge, 1475 Creekside Drive.  All SIR members and their guests (spouses included!) are welcome to attend.
